Leaving for a better place/ Krazy Boss

On May 23, 2024, I left my job in a firm. I left the firm because things were  getting way out of hand.       To illustrate, I expressed my grievance over the late payment of salary in the office:      I cited the Philippine Labor Code which postulates that the gap between paydays should not exceed 16 days. Our HR policy also provides that "incase the cutoff falls on a holidays, Saturday or Sunday, salaries should be paid before the said days."       Upon expressing my grievance to the HR, the company's owner suddenly messaged the company group chat saying that the company has been too accommodating and he would revise the company policy to the effect that salaries would be paid on the next working day.     What does that entail? It entails that the company's owner, who is a lawyer by the way, would just be violating the law further. There will be instances where the payday would exceed the ...

Law Firm Job Interview

So, here we are.     Firstly, welcome to this blog where I write about my experience in cycling around the city and its mountains on the outskirts of Metro Manila, particularly the mountains of Rizal and of course the challenges I face as I ride my bike mostly during weekend rides but I'll try my best to create or write contents about weekday rides where I would most likely just rant about the heat and the traffic of a bustling metropolis.      Secondly, I am Roland, and like most of you reading this, I too have my weekday job but unlike most, I am also studying something only a few would dare venture into - law school. I would like to ask for your forgiveness now if I write something that is off character as I may include some law related content as you join me...
